HONG KONG: Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks ended a volatile week with healthy gains Friday, tracking an Asia-wide advance following the previous day's sharp losses and on hopes Britain will next week vote to remain in the European Union.

The Hang Seng Index climbed 0.66 percent, or 131.56 points, to 20,169.98 -- but it has shed more than four percent since last Friday.
