HK, Shanghai stocks end morning lower

HONG KONG: Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks ended the morning session lower Monday after data at the end of last week showed the US created far fewer jobs than expected in May, fueling worries about the world’s biggest economy.

The Hang Seng Index sank 0.16 percent, or 33.52 points, to 20,913.72.

And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was marginally lower, dipping 1.29 points to 2,937.39, but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, gained 0.37 percent, or 6.99 points, to 1,921.80. AFP
