Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has appointed Toshio Kuwahara as its new president and general manager and Masanao Kataoka as assistant vice president and adviser for marketing and sales.
“Rest assured that it is my goal to provide vehicles that the Filipino customers dream of having. I anticipate that what our team has been developing for years [is]spot on,” Kuwahara told reporters on Friday.
Kuwahara is known for working closely with Filipinos in both HCPI and Honda Cars dealerships during his previous stint as a marketing guru. He added that the Filipinos would be seeing new Honda models soon.
“We will keep you very busy this year. Expect new Honda models to be available in the market soon. You will actually see the All New City very soon,” he said.
Kuwahara was placed at the helm on April 1, replacing Tatsuya Natsume, who was assigned to a new post in Brazil.
Kataoka took over the job vacated by the new Honda Cars chief.
Kuwahara has been in the country for more than five years.
His first assignment in the Philippines was as senior assistant vice president for HCPI’s Marketing and Sales Division
“My job in the Philippines is very special to me, not only because this is my first time in the country but also because this is my first assignment in Honda’s automobile business,” Kuwahara said during a news briefing.
Prior to his move to the automobile business, he had held posts in Honda’s motorcycle business unit for the Asia and Oceania market.
Kuwahara expressed optimism that their new products could lead a strong resurgence of the Honda brand in the local automotive scene.
