MOTORCYCLE manufacturer and distributor Honda Phils. Inc. (HPI) recently held its “Great Northern Tour” event to mark its 40th anniversary in the country. The company also launched the new Honda Zoomer X during the event.
To date, HPI has sold around four million motorcycles locally.
The Great Northern Tour, staged on January 25 and 26, saw around 100 Honda riders travelling from Manila to Baguio and back. The participants took off from a service station in Pasay City and headed for Baguio to do a “safety ride.” The following day, the group returned to a Pasay City mall—where HPI was holding its anniversary celebrations—while performing a fuel economy run.
The riders, aboard Honda CB110, XRM and Wave Dash motorbikes attempted to set new fuel efficiency records.
HPI Advertising Supervisor Lemuel Buenaflor said that the riders enjoyed the experience as they were given an opportunity to set their own milestone with their Honda motorcycles.
He added that Honda motorcycles offer outstanding fuel efficiency while delivering powerful performance.
“We have more reasons to celebrate and what best to do it than with an exciting tour that tested the mettle of various Honda motorcycles when it comes to quality and fuel efficiency,” Buenaflor said.
HPI during its anniversary event showcased the Zoomer X, which the company said is meant for “today’s sensational breed of Filipino riders; built for styling and performance to bring out an extreme riding experience.”
The Zoomer X is powered by a fuel-efficient PGM-Fi fuel-injected, four-stroke, single-cylinder 110cc engine that is bolted to an automatic transmission via a V-belt. It has an inverted fork in front and a mono shock in the rear, a front disc/rear drum brake combination, and 12-inch tubeless tires mounted on cast wheels. The bike gets a flexible U-Box compartment to hold luggage.
HPI sells the Zoomer X for P86,900.
