HOPKINS BECOMES OLDEST TO UNIFY WORLD TITLES

WASHINGTON: Bernard Hopkins, at age 49, became the eldest fighter to unify world titles on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) when he defeated Beibut Shumenov in a light-heavyweight showdown. Hopkins won via a split-decision victory, 116-111, 116-111, 113-114.
