A barber who held an eight-year-old boy hostage on Thursday was killed after a five-hour police operationin Samala Marquez Binakayan, Kawit Cavite. Provincial Police Director Joselito Esquivel Jr., said the suspect William Villanueva, 35, snatched the sleeping Clyde Ivan Reyes and held him captive in a tense drama that included Gov. Jonvic Remulla of Cavite and Mayor Reynaldo Aguinaldo of Kawit who appealed to the suspect to surrender. Esquivel added that the suspect, a drug user who had spent time in a mental hospital in Trece Martires City, held a knife against the neck of the boy. After five hours, the SWAT police assaulted the suspect, shot him several times in different parts of his body and took him to Kawit Kalayaan Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The boy was rescued with minor injuries and taken to Crisostomo Hospital in Bacoor for treatment.

I hope the members of Cavite Police and the PNP as whole should learned their lessons in this hostage taking.The end of the 5 hour hostage taking was not successfull because the suspect was only armed with a knife while the police were fully armed with armalites, instead of killing the suspect they should just disable him by shooting his legs or arms so that the knive he is holding against the boy will be released , then thats the time they can snatced the knife from him and the boy will be rescued.Why kill the suspect?
