Sen. Ralph Recto on Wednesday thanked the House of Representatives for adopting the approved Senate version of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) modernization bill. With the House approval of the bill, Recto said there would be no need to convene a bicameral conference committee to approve Senate Bill No. 2834 which he authored in the Senate. He said the bill would now be sent to Malacañang for the signature of President Benigno Aquino 3rd. The Senate last week approved on third and final reading the bill which aims to modernize the weather bureau. Recto said a modernized weather bureau was the “missing link” in the country’s climate adaptation efforts.
