House’s ‘security officer’ nabbed for gun, reckless driving

VILLASIS, Pangasinan: An alleged drunk security officer of the House of Representatives who introduced himself as bodyguard of a lawmaker in Pangasinan was arrested after hitting four plastic barriers along the national road in Poblacion and carrying unlicensed firearm last Thursday. Frederick Manzon Maramba of Barangay Lasip Grande, Dagupan City was reportedly accosted at about 7:30 p.m. after he drove past the policemen on board his Honda civic car (WCU-576) that toppled road barriers set up by the police. Pangasinan Police Director, Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver-Lee, ordered policemen to verify the employment record of Maramba who presented identification cards issued by previous officials of the House of Representatives. Senior Police Officer 4 Joria Salcedo said that when they finally caught up with Maramba, he also saw a gun – caliber 45 pistol – inside his sling bag but failed to show any permit for it. He is facing illegal possession of firearm and reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, filed on Friday before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
