Ormoc City, Leyte: The Isabel Police has filed charges of violation of RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act on Monday at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against Corazon Barola, 61, a housewife and a resident of San Jose Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur. Isabel Police Chief Police Chief Inspector Randy Jungco said, in a telephone interview, his office received information regarding a female passenger of a ferry from Compostela town in Cebu bound for Isabel, Leyte was allegedly carrying a number of firearms in her baggage. A team proceeded to the port to check and noticed Jungco carrying a big plastic bag, which they inspected and found two 9mm calibre sub-machine gun KG9 pistols, two .45 caliber pistols, one .357 caliber revolver and a .22 caliber revolver. The suspect told police that the items will be delivered to a businessmen in her hometown to be used for protection from criminal elements. Jungco further said that it was the second time that she carried firearms to Mindanao. The suspect has been detained at the Isabel Police Station detention cell.
