• Huck targets Nelson’s record before heavyweight switch

BERLIN: Germany’s world cruiserweight champion Marco Huck has said he wants to equal ex-British fighter Johnny Nelson’s record for the most World Boxing Organization title defenses before stepping up to heavyweight. The 29-year-old Huck will defend his cruiserweight title for the 13th time in Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart, on May 3 and victory would see him match Nelson’s record, which the British ring star enjoyed over seven years, before he retired in March 2006. Huck enjoyed a sixth-round technical knock-out over 43-year-old former cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan in Stuttgart last month to give him 26 KOs in 37 wins and two defeats in 40 professional bouts.
