Huey, Inglot reach 3rd round


Filipino-American Treat Huey and British Dominic Inglot advanced to the third round of the 2013 Roland Garros being held in Paris, France.

Huey and Inglot nipped Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan and Mikhail Elgin of Russia via 6-3, 7-6 (5) in their second-round match.

Huey and Inglot posted a combined 72-point output highlighted by six aces and six winners.

They won three of the seven break points in their one-hour, 14-minute match, while Istomin and Elgin scored 64 total points.

Huey and Inglot will be facing the French duo of Michael Llondra and Nicolas Mahut, who shocked the fifth-seeded pair of Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Horia Tecau of Romania, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5, in their own second-round match.

Huey and Inglot whipped Germans Tobias Kamke and Florian Mayer, 7-6 (5), 6-4, in the opening round of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.

They already matched their third-round finish in the 2012 edition.

In mixed doubles, Huey and American partner Raquel Kops-Jones bowed to Julian Knowle of Austria and Zhang Shuai of China in the first round, 1-6, 2-6.
