Filipino Treat Conrad Huey and British Dominic Inglot reigned supreme in the doubles event of the 2014 Aegon International on Saturday in London, England.
Huey and Inglot posted a 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 win over No. 1 Alexander Peya of Austria and Bruno Soares of Brazil in the finals.
The Filipino-British pair grabbed the 27,700 Euros top purse while Peya and Soares settled for the 14,560 Euros consolation prize.
Huey and Inglot also earned 250 Association of Tennis Professionals ranking points.
They made it to the finals by whipping British Jamie Murray and Australian John Peers, 6-3, 7-6 (4), in the first round, No. 2 Indian Leader Paes and Pakistani Aisam Qureshi, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals, and the wild card British pair of Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins, 7-6 (2), 6-3, in the semifinals.
It was Huey and Inglot’s first title this year after unsuccessful attempts in some major tournaments including their quarterfinal finish in the Australian Open and second-round exit in the French Open.
Huey and Inglot are hoping to bring the momentum in the 2014 Wimbledon Championships beginning next week at the All-England Club.
