    Filipino Treat Conrad Huey and American partner Scott Lipsky settled for the runner-up honors in the prestigious Houston ATP World Tour held in Texas, US.

    Huey and Lipsky bowed to Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania and Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia, 4-6, 4-6, in the finals of the tournament sanctioned by the Association of Tennis Professionals and International Tennis Federation.

    The Filipino-American tandem advanced to the finals by ousting second seeds Eric Butorac of US and Samuel Groth of Australia, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 12-10, in the first round; Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and Donald Young of US, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8, in the quarterfinals; and fourth picks Mariusz Fyrstenberg of Poland and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico, 6-7 (3), 4-3 (retired), in the semifinals.

    On the other hand, Berankis and Gabashvili stunned world No. 1 Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan of US in the quarterfinals, 7-6 (7), 7-5. They also beat Federico Delbonis of Argentina and Dusan Lajovic of Serbia in the first round (4-6, 6-2, 19-17) and No. 3 Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Jurgen Melzer of Austria in the semifinals (6-4, 6-1).

    Berankis and Gabashvili pocketed the $26,980 top purse while Huey and Lipsky got $14,180 consolation prize.

    Huey and Lipsky also earned 150 points in the ATP rankings.

    The 29-year-old Huey, who represents the Philippines in the Davis Cup tie, is currently ranked 58th in the doubles world rankings. He reached as high as 20th in the early part of 2014 season.
