• Huey, partner rule Estoril Open doubles

Filipino-American Treat Conrad Huey and American Scott Lipsky bagged their first doubles title as partners when they ruled the prestigious 2015 Estoril Open held in Portugal.

Huey and Lipsky stunned top seeds Marc Lopez and David Marrero via an easy 6-1, 6-4 domination in the finals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour event.

“It was a great match. They’re better on clay court but today, Scott and I played unbelievable tennis and it was a lot of fun playing that well in Portugal and in front of all the fans. We had a good time out there,” said Huey.

Huey and Lipsky will be splitting the 24,280 Euros top purse. They also earned 250 ATP ranking points each.

The Spaniards, on the other hand, settled for the 12,760 Euros runner-up purse and 150 points.

Huey and Lipsky advanced to the finals by ousting Joao Domingues and Pedro Sousa of Portugal in the first round (6-3, 6-0), Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain and Alejandro Gonzalez of Colombia in the quarterfinals (6-1, 6-2), and Gilles Muller of Luxembourg and Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan in the semifinals (7-6 [3], 6-3).

The 29-year-old Huey will be leading the country’s campaign in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June along with fellow Filipino-American Ruben Gonzales, and former Australian Open juniors campaigner Francis Casey Alcantara and Jeson Patrombon.

“This is a great a confidence booster for me for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games,” said Huey.
