• Huey, partner suffer loss in Melbourne


    Filipino Treat Conrad Huey and Slovenian partner Andreja Klepac got booted out of contention in the mixed doubles event of the prestigious 2016 Australian Open being held in Melbourne. The unseeded tandem of Huey and Klepac suffered a 4-6, 4-6 defeat at the hands of veteran campaigners American Coco Vandeweghe and Romanian Horia Tecau in the semifinal match that lasted for 67 minutes. Vandeweghe and Tecau advanced to the finals against the winner between top seeds Sania Mirza of India and Ivan Dodig of Croatia, and fifth picks Elena Vesnina of Russia and Bruno Soares of Brazil. Huey and Klepac, nonetheless, pocketed $37,500 consolation purse for reaching the semifinals.
