HUNDREDS MONITORED IN TAIWAN AFTER BIRD FLU CASE

TAIPEI: Taiwanese authorities are monitoring hundreds of people who may have had contact with a mainland Chinese tourist infected with the H7N9 strain of bird flu. The 86-year-old man from the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu is in stable condition in hospital in Taiwan, where he was on an eight-day tour, the Centers for Disease Control said in a statement.
