• Hundreds of passengers affected by Tacloban airport repairs


    HUNDREDS of passengers on Wednesday were affected by the closure of Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport as part of the asphalted landing roll portion of the runway had been damaged and needs immediate repair. Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Tacloban Area manager Antonio Alfonso said that the airport will be closed effective 2 p.m. on Wednesday until 5 p.m. on Thursday. In his report to CAAP Operation Rescue and Coordinating Center (ORCC), two Airbus from AirAsia and Cebu Pacific were grounded while six more flights are cancelled. Tacloban Airport authorities and airline companies are now accommodating stranded passengers and giving priority to the next available flight out of Tacloban airport on Thursday.
