THE Hyundai Lateral Drift Pro-Am Championship Series, the first and only drift-racing series in the Philippines, recently opened its ninth season, with the event featuring its official drift car, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
Attending the opening leg, held at a Libis, Quezon City, venue were Hiromi Kajikuma and Kimihiro Obata from Japan, who served as judges.
Topping Round 1 in the Pro division was John Boban. He was followed by Alex Perez and Gio Rodriguez. In the Amateur division, Peter Schroth led the field with Kar Montaner and Stephen Ng coming in after him.

President Fe Perez-Agudo. “Hyundai continues to support the series because it is an ideal venue in which to showcase the modern premium features of the Genesis Coupe, and because we want to expand the fan base of drifting in the country, as well as develop young Filipino talent that can conquer motor sports in the global arena.”
