HYUNDAI Motor said that FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) has announced the winner of the Hyundai Young Player Award in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
Paul Pogba, the 21-year-old Juventus star, earned the title after his performances in the five matches he played in the tournament.
Besides scoring a crucial headed goal against Nigeria in Round 16, the Frenchman was also an influential figure throughout Les Bleus’ Brazil 2014 venture, FIFA said.
First awarded in 2006, the Hyundai Young Player Award is one of the official FIFA awards and is selected by the TSG, a FIFA-appointed group of top football coaches, former players and analysts.
Hyundai Motor said it first signed up in 1999 to sponsor FIFA competitions. Since then the company has been the official partner of the 2002, 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, as well as other FIFA tournaments.
