Hyundai sales up 34% in Sept

Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, sold 2,017 units in September to post a 34 percent year-on-year growth.

Sales from January to September reached 17,693 units or 9 percent higher than year-ago figures, the company said.

The passenger car (PC) segment sold a total of 1,490 units in September, reflecting a 45 percent year-on-year growth. Year-to-date, PC sales hit 12,323 units or 25 percent higher than sales during the same period last year.

The Eon, Accent and i10 models were the top performers for the PC segment in September as the three models posted double-digit growth.

The light commercial vehicles (LCV) category managed a comeback in September as sales rebounded with 527 units sold. This is 10 percent higher than September 2013 figures.

Year-to-date, however, sales in the LCV category went down by 15 percent.

The Grand Starex model paced the LCV segment with 38 percent increase in sales.
“Following nine months of positive sales growth, Hyundai is set to cruise through the last quarter with an upbeat sales outlook,” HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said.
