The Philippine entertainment industry has much to celebrate today for another all-original concept on television is marking its 20th year on air. This is a feat that less than a handful shows on TV has achieved through the years, with now on its Eat Bulaga 36th year, and Maalaala Mo Kaya on its 24th.
It is therefore no surprise that GMA Network is poised to give its award-winning comedy/gag show Bubble Gang the accolade it truly deserves on its landmark anniversary.
As a well-loved source of weekly amusement, Bubble Gang celebrates its big year with the theme, “I Am Bubble Gang” (IMBG).
According to the show’s creators, “Through this theme, Bubble Gang wants everyone to know that the show encompasses not just the cast, the staff, the network, but the lives of all the Filipinos who continue to watch the show as it begins its second decade.”
For its roster of artists, led by Michael V, “The show is not just a comedy program but a reflection of a Filipino way of life, with the characters, punchlines and taglines that testify our oneness with viewers—from the yayas, to Tata Linos, to Antoniettas, and Mr. Assimos in our lives.”
As part of the celebration, Bubble Gang preps up a commemorative gag book titled, IMBG: I am Bubble Gang (The Bubble Gang 20th Anniversary Commemorative Comedy Chronicles) dedicated to the viewers’ unwavering support.
GMA News and Public Affairs, led by Jessica Soho and Mike Enriquez, meanwhile will air a documentary tonight in place of the regular airing of the show to provide a glimpse of all the important aspects of Bubble Gang, from its cast and staff, to how show directly affects the lives of Filipinos.
“It will also showcase a side of the show that is rarely seen on the screen to let the audience feel how important they are to their success,” ended the hosts.
