• Ian Veneracion: ‘I need to be in tip top shape’

    Ian Veneracion

People still remember Ian Veneracion as the cute and charming Jeffrey Laperal, the son of Joey de Leon in the 1982 sitcom “Joey and Son.”

From there, he went on to appear in more television projects while simultaneously making films that ranged from comedy to drama to action.

Among his most recent works include the internationally acclaimed psychological thriller “Bliss” and the supernatural horror film “Ilawod.”

Now at 42, Veneracion has again endeared himself to today’s generation as Antonio “Anton” Noble 4th, a dashing engineer who is separated with three children, and falls in love with a broken soul. Much earlier he was Eduardo Buenavista in the 2015 remake of “Pangako Sa ’Yo,” the role that regained for him his fame and stature as a top leading man of the day.

Besides being an actor, Veneracion is also a painter, an athlete, a pilot, a chef, and a family man—the last being his favorite real life role to play.

Asked how he juggles family, work and his varied interests, he replied, “By taking care of my health. I need a strong immune system to be able to do everything I want to do, and as an actor, I can’t afford to get sick, and look stressed.”

Despite his hectic schedule, Veneracion stays in tip top shape because he is familiar with his body and knows how to listen to it.

“It’s the little things that we don’t normally notice, which I keep an eye on, like for example, having stronger resistance against colds and flu, or making sure my skin stays clear and my hair shiny. If I see things going the other way, I know I’m getting sick.”

According to Veneracion, he makes sure that besides eating well and getting enough rest, he takes a good multi-vitamin everyday and stock up on natural remedies for early signs of ailments.

“I believe that if you are healthy, it reflects physically—not just your hair, your skin, but in the number of things you can do. But of course, everyone needs help in staying healthy. I take multivitamin Conzace everyday, and when I feel like I’ve caught a cough or a cold, especially with the weather these days, I take a natural remedy like Ascof Lagundi, which I know is safe and effective.”

Carrying on with specifics, he further advised, “Getting enough sleep and eating properly are important to keep your body healthy. Exercise is another non-negotiable. All these together, keep me in tip top shape and allows me to live life to the fullest.”
