The French outdoor lifestyle brand Aigle has finaly made it to Southeast Asia via the Philippines, with the opening of its flagship store in Uptown Mall in Taguig City.
The label traces its history as far back as 1853 when founder Hiram Hutchinson bought the patent for vulcanization of rubber from Charles Goodyear, and created the brand of protective boots named A l’Aigle as a tribute to the American Eagle. It wasn’t until the 1920s to 1930s when the brand started to produce shoes in rubber for sports and leisure.
Each pair of rubber boots is made by hand—a unique know-how in France, and every pair goes through the strictest tests for waterproofness, abrasion, grip, and wear-and-tear. It takes two years to master all 60 steps of boot manufacturing, and Aigle is no stranger to such a challenge. As of late, 4000 pairs of boots are produced daily at their production site in Châtellerault, France.
Aigle’s selection of iconic outdoor lifestyle apparel and footwear is made to help every person face nature and city in total freedom. The rubber boots are the most iconic in the Aigle repertoire—perfect for those who believe that roughing it up can be trés chic too.
“We’re so happy to be able to bring Aigle in the Philippines, especially since we’re an adventure-loving nation. Another thing about us Filipinos is that we’re very fashion-forward. That’s where Aigle comes in—to marry both style and reliability in outdoor wear,” shared Andrew Naval of Noble House, official distributor of the French outdoor brand at the store opening.
In sync with Aigle’s current collection abroad, the Lofoten Fall-Winter 2017 was simultaneously unveiled at the event, as Naval explained how the pieces are heavily inspired by an island in Norway of the same name.
“Lofoten Island is known for its beautiful scenery and dramatic mountains. It is often a go-to for those who want unforgettable nature adventures due to its very diverse landscape.”
The collection features timeless silhouettes and colors that are reminiscent of the beautiful islands, and yet each piece from the collection is practical and chic.
Opening in the Philippines just as the cooler weather of December has begun, Aigle’s range of jackets will easily make the newest must-have list for the season.
