• IFI Church leaders CALL for release of Bishop


    CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Church leaders of the Iglesia Filipina Independencia (IFI) demanded the release of IFI Bishop Carlos Morales who was arrested three months ago in Ozamiz City, and called for the resumption of the peace talk with the National Democratic Front (NDF). Bishop Antonio Ablon, president of the IFI Mindanao Bishop Conference, said that 30 bishops from Northern, Western and Northwestern Mindanao, converged here to join the nationwide demand for the release of Bishop Morales. In Manila, the IFI national cathedral led a picket-rally at the Department of Justice. Bishop Morales, head of IFI Diocese in Ozamiz City, was arrested at a police checkpoint last May 11 in Gango, Ozamiz City along with Rommel Salinas, National Democratic Front (NDF) consultant and alleged top commander of the New People’s Army.
