THE heat is on as best batters in the region vie for honors and pride in the 2014 Southeast Asia Youth Baseball-Softball Tournament organized by the International Little League of Manila (ILLAM).
The Southeast Asia Youth Baseball-Softball Tournament will be competed by young baseballers (15 to 18 years) from the Southeast Asian region as well as from the Pacific side.
It will be held at the Parade Ground of Clark Development Corporation in Angeles City, Pampanga on March 25 to 29.
ILLAM-Philippines is heavy favorite in the biennial meet backed by KFC, Tokyo Tokyo, Malcolm’s Burger, Mister Donut, Ristorante Bigoli, Amazing Coca Cola, Globe Telecom, Kia Columbian Motors, Philippine Sports Commission, Clark Development Corp., Clark Water Corp. and Holiday Inn.
“The boys are ready and determined for a podium finish being the host and the advantage of a home team. The field is strong so we must put our preparation and training on a high gear to achieve our goal,” said ILLAM IX team manager Arsenic Laurel.
The Filipinos bat for supremacy against formidable international school teams from Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, last edition host Singapore and Australia.
“The host team ‘s mission to reign supreme in this tournament. We are also being supported by the former members of the national team and collegiate squads who share their expertise during practice and games at the diamond to be ready to face strong opposition from the perennial rivals Thais and Indon batters at the Clark grounds,” added Laurel.
