Illegal logs confiscated in Bulacan

TROOPS of the Philippine Army’s 48th Infantry Guardians Battalion confiscated about 300 board feet of red lawaan wood of assorted cuts, loaded in six motorcycles and an Elf truck in Sitio Buasao, Barangay Sapang Bulac, Doña Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan on Monday. Bravo Company officer, 1st Lieutenant Rex Payot, said they received information from a concerned citizen about the alleged illegal activity and dispatched the team under 2nd Lieutenant Jan Michael Jamelarin to conduct an operation. Upon sensing the presence of army personnel, the suspects immediately fled, abandoning the illegally cut lumbers and their vehicles. The confiscated items were turned over to the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) in San Rafael, Bulacan.
