OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) have busted an illegal drug-peddling group during an operation on Tuesday morning in a remote village in Masingal town in Ilocos Sur, a senior police official said on Wednesday.
PNP-CIDG Chief, Director Victor Deona said in a statement that a composite team of policemen busted an illegal drug-peddling group during an operation at around 6 am on Tuesday in Barangay Patong in Masingal, Ilocos Sur.
He said the operation was carried out jointly by operatives of PNP-CIDG Ilocos Sur, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Provincial Public Safety Company, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group and Masingal Municipal Police Station.
Seven search warrants were simultaneously served by joint elements for the arrest of the leader and members of the “Oliver Group.”
Deona, quoting reports from the field, identified the arrested members of the illegal drug-peddling group as Ryan Tolentino Oliver, 30; Minelito Tolentino Oliver Jr., 32 and a kagawad (barangay councilor) of Barangay Patong; Jansen Costales, 40, a farmer; and Frodelito Parbo Umani, 41.
The PNP-CIDG chief said Usana has a standing warrant of arrest for frustrated murder and is listed as the No. 4 most wanted person at the municipal level in Magsingal, while Umani is included in the drug watch list of authorities.
