ILOILO CITY: The city council here is asking officials of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to explain the long delayed release of matured educa- tion plans.
A resolution, which was authored by City Councilor Armand Parcon, was formulated to call for a consultative meeting between GSIS officials and the city accountant to discuss the issue.
The objective was to relay the information to beneficiaries who have complained to the city government on the delayed release of educational benefits and anti-inflationary educatio- nal plan.
In his privilege speech before the City Council on October 20, Parcon said he has a personal experience with GSIS since his wife is a city government employee and has been paying premiums since 1997 through salary deductions for the educational plan.
The City Council, through the resolution, is requesting GSIS to give justice and due course to all matured but unpaid educational benefits and anti-inflationary educational plan.
