Iloilo celebrates 78th Charter Day

ILOILO CITY: Iloilo City is celebrating its 78 years as a Charter City on Tuesday with a grand parade. “We are celebrating our transformation and change from a humble beginning in 1937 to a highly urbanized city with high hope for the future of our children. We have not invited celebrities and high government officials as this day is solely the day of the people of Iloilo City,” said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. It was during the time of Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon that Iloilo became a charter city.
