ILOILO CITY: The city council will meet with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Ediberto Tayao to discuss the cutting of  trees at the center island along Gen. Luna highway. Also attending the meeting are the city mayor, vice mayor, city councilors, DPWH district engineer Rodney Gustilo, city engineer Roberto Divinagracia, city legal officer Dan Dinopol and the city environment and natural resources officials.  City councilor Plaridel Nava said the council is not questioning the DPWH road widening project along Gen. Luna Street but it noted the cutting down of some heritage trees without coordination with city officials and the planting of royal palms at the center island. The city councilor said the DPWH must not cut down the trees but to trim only to pave the road widening.
