Iloilo City gives in to demands of terminal operator


ILOILO CITY: The city council here has given a 20-year extension to the North-Central Transport Terminal Inc. (NCTTI) to operate its public utility vehicle terminal at Barangay Tagbac, Jaro in this city. In a session on Tuesday, City councilor RLeone Gerochi, chairman of the committee on transportation, said the city councilors are looking into the best interest of the riding public and the vendors at the NTTCI, popularly known as the Tagbac terminal. “The public welfare must prevail without any prejudice on the case filed by NCTTI through its general manager Alberto Ladrido 3rd against the city council in enacting an ordinance favoring a terminal for its competitor Vallacar Transit,” Gerochi said. The city councilor led the passage of an ordinance extending the franchise for 20 years by giving in to the demands of the Tagbac terminal owner.
