Iloilo City has app for residents, visitors

ILOILO CITY: This southern city now has its own app that mobile users can download to cellphones with an app capability.

App refers to a self-contained program or piece of software designed to fulfill a particular purpose, especially as downloaded by a user to a mobile device.

This after a Memorandum of Agreement was signed on March 20, 2015 between city Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Harold Martinez of Tidal Solution Corp. for the deployment of an Iloilo City app.

The MOA calls for a 24/7 connection free for the local government unit. Users who download the app will immediately know what is happening in Iloilo City, particularly on crime prevention, emergency response, news feeds, tourism, places and events.

The city council has enacted Resolution 2015-113 on February 17, 2015 authorizing the city mayor to sign the MOA.

Mabilog said this modern tool will help the city break the online market and show to the world the city’s potentials and existing infrastructures and socio-economic potentials.
Martinez said this is their first venture with Iloilo City, in support of its fast economic growth. The app will be offered free  of charge.
