ILOILO CITY: The city government here is bracing up for the city’s 76th anniversary with month-long activities until its highlight on August 25 with the city tourism office leading the festivities. On Tuesday, July 16, a thanksgiving mass will start the celebration at the lobby of the new city hall to be followed by a short program with acting city mayor Jose Espinosa 3rd. This year’s celebration will put emphasis on the city’s Vision 20-20 and city Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog’s one cohesive effort on Juan Vision, Juan Direction and Juan Action by putting all city government services under one focus. Iloilo City was elevated into a chartered city in August 25, 1937 and since then, progressed into one of the most awarded and highly urbanized city in the whole Visayas. City tourism officer Ben Jimena said the 76th charter day of Iloilo City is a testament and celebration of the local government’s outstanding achievements for the Ilonggos to be proud of.
