• Iloilo courts ease child adoption steps

ILOILO CITY: Judges in 19 family courts in the Western Visayas took steps to fast track adoption cases and provide homeless children with homes. In a regional conference hosted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development last Nov. 5 the judges moved “to map out the best practices in adoption and we be able to cut off the process of adoption without sacrificing the law,” according to DSWD Reg. Dir. Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre. She said at present, the process of adoption takes about nine months to one year, which is being protested by families or petitioners who urged for a shorter and reasonable measure.

    1. That would be great news and certainly in the best interest of the child and the family unit as a whole. Its sad that the rest of the country does not make the same move. My adoption case was filed in 2011 and is still pending today. Maybe my wife and I should drop the petition and re file in iloilo then maybe we can get it done.
