Iloilo eyes direct flights to Xiamen

ILOILO CITY: Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog here has proposed the provision of direct flights from the Iloilo airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo, to Xiamen, mainland China, to serve Chinese and Filipino travelers to foster an economic boom in Iloilo.

The expansion of the Iloilo Airport funded by the national government will attract other foreign business to come in and invest here, he said. In Iloilo City, majority of the local businessmen are Filipino-Chinese and 80 percent of them are into retail business such as trading, manufacturing, hotel, restaurant, real estate and other enterprises.
