ILOILO CITY: “There is life after detention, there is life after imprisonment.” These were the encouraging words of Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. of Iloilo to the inmates of Iloilo Provincial Jail in Barangay Nanga, Pototan town where he celebrated his birthday on Friday morning. In his message before the 571 inmates, the governor stressed that there is hope amid the worst of circumstances. He cited the case of the late Nelson Mandela—the great leader who fought against apartheid in South Africa and was imprisoned for 27 years. “He was successful in his fight. Likewise, we should be inspired to live a life with direction despite the worst circumstances that led you to this facility,” he said.
