ILOILO CITY: Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog welcomed the participants in a seminar conducted by the Philippines Climate Change Adaptation Project (PhilCCAPP) on Wednesday at the Sarabia Manor here. Mabilog said the seminar was timely considering that the country is visited by about 20 typhoons every year that affect the food supply and set back the country’s economic gains. The PhilCCAPP focused on climate resiliency of agriculture and natural resources management and strengthen the capabilities of government agencies involved in adaptation activities. The project sites in Western Visayas are the Iloilo municipalities of Janiuay, Pototan, Dumangas and Mina, all considered as rice producing areas of the region but vulnerable to climate change.
