• Iloilo launches anti-corruption drive


    ILOILO CITY: An anti-corruption campaign has been launched here to promote good governance, protection of human rights and environmental protection. Spearheaded by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) and the Liberal Party (LP), the participants of the campaign include more than 200 representatives from local civil society, business, academe and LP members, particularly mayors from Dumangas, Pavia and Iloilo City. FNF Country Director Jules Maaten, Assistant Secretary Kael Co of the Presidential Communications and Strategic Planning Office of Malacañang, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Mayor Rolando Distura of Dumangas and Mayor Michael Gorriceta of Pavia and city councilors Nielex Tupas, Lady Grace Julie Baronda, Dylee Zulueta-Salazar, Leonor Geroche and Armand Parcon led in the launching of “Diretso Lang sa Tuwid na Daan.” The FNF cited these local government units that exemplify best practices on environmental governance and recognized their programs to address climate change and for their disaster risk resilience and management initiatives.
