Iloilo mulls mandatory hospice for PWDs, senior citizens

ILOILO CITY: The city council’s committee on health proposed mandatory hospice care services for indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs) and bedridden senior citizens in every barangay. Councilor Candice Magdalane Tupas, chair of the committee on health and proponent of the measure, said the barangay health workers (BHW) shall provide the home care services with counseling and monitoring of the PWDs and senior citizens whose existence is dependent on the support of other persons. The city has 180 barangays, most of which have health centers.
