ILOILO CITY: The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported a lower crime rate in the city, a downtrend which Police City Director Kashmir Disomangcop said was brought about by their relentless anti-crime initiatives. “These initiatives are anchored on our PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. 2030 Plan,” Disomangcop said. PATROL 2030 stands for Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and upholding of the Rule of Law. Disomangcop said index crime decreased by 42.79 percent covering the period January 1 to April 30, which involve crimes against persons, like murder, rape and homicide, and crimes against property like robbery, theft, carnapping and the like. Its crime solution efficiency also improved at 83.35 percent from 66.72 percent in 2015.The ICPOs’ crime volume decreased by 5.31 percent from last year’s 4,384 incidents, according to Disomangcop. The office also reported that its crime clearance efficiency as of April 2016 improved at 83.79 percent from 66.40 percent in 2015. Disomangcop cited the participation of the community as a big factor in the improved crime clearance and crime solution efficiency of the police.
