ILOILO POLICE TURN TO SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CRIME PREVENTION

ILOILO CITY: The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Western Visayas has turned to social media such as Facebook, Twitter and PRO6 official website to step up crime prevention and to gain the public’s trust and respect.  Police regional information officer, Insp. Grace Borio said the initiative was recommended by regional chief PCSupt. Josephus G. Angan to provide netizens an easy venue for communication and sharing of essential information. Angan ordered the integration of social media in all PNP programs and all provincial and city police directors and municipal police stations in the region to have their own Twitter account to cater on concerns and feedbacks of the public. By using social media, the netizens can easily raise their comments and inquiries and be updated with PRO6 significant events and activities with increased participation in crime reporting.
