ILOCOS Norte Governor Imee Marcos has expressed full support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s plans to reimpose death penalty.
Marcos said the province will be in total compliance in the event the death penalty is reimposed against criminals, especially those involved in illegal drugs, which is also her battle.
Earlier this year, the Provincial Anti-illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group arrested some public officials involved in illegal drugs, whom Marcos has vehemently condemned.
“We have to protect the rights of the citizenry—the youth and the victims of drug pushers and syndicates by ensuring their security against prevalent crimes,” Marcos said.
She also urged the public to report suspects as well as advised those involved in drug-related activities to surrender to authorities as early as possible.
“We have no doubt that the Philippine National Police is ready against criminality and that we are also ready to file appropriate charges against the criminals,” Marcos added.
