Imelda Marcos, who now represents the second district of Ilocos Norte in Congress, hails from Tacloban, which has been ravaged by Typhoon Yolanda.

She has diabetes and has been confined in hospital for “strict medical monitoring.”

June Arvin Gudoy, head of communications and media office of Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, said the family was helping in government efforts to distribute relief goods to the stricken city.

Imee is the daughter of the 84-year-old Mrs. Marcos.

Gudoy said Mrs. Marcos’ heart goes out to her province mates.

“Ayaw kawang hin paglaun. Matindog kita na mga waray,” (Let’s not lose hope. We Warays will rise again) was the congressman’s handwritten message to the members of the family, Gudoy said.

He said the Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Hospital in Tacloban, which the Romualdez clan helped establish, stayed open at the height of the super typhoon started and has never closed down.

“Even if the hospital roof has been blown off, the Marcos family has been trying to work in the havoc of the relief operation; a team of four international aid agencies are currently in the hospital,” he said.

  1. Imelda, you do not need to be physically present in Tacloban to help your people. Send half of the money left that your family had amassed following your escape to Hawaii, and the rest return them to the government, you can not take them with you at the end of your day. Be the best model for the young generation to follow that will build and govern this country, and all the people who corrupted the government past and present, that they too might do the same. We all have to change our heart and mind, if only to attain peace, harmony and unity of all Filipinos so that God will bless our country and people that one day will emerge a country that we all can be proud of. God bless you, and your family Imelda.
