Former First Lady Imelda Marcos on Wednesday visited former President who is under hospital arrest on a P366-million plunder case.
Bebot Bello, Mrs. Marcos’ chief of staff, said Marcos, who is now a congressman from Ilocos Norte expressed concern over Arroyo’s delicate condition, particularly her brittle spine.
“They exchanged pleasantries. Mrs. Marcos asked the former President how her health has been. We arrived there a little past three in the afternoon,” Diaz said.
Marcos gave Arroyo, who represents Pampanga in the House, two dozen roses, a wrapped gift and a bottle of wine.
Mrs. Marcos, the widow of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, joined the growing list of prominent personalities who have visited Arroyo at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
Her most recent visitors include Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz, former president and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, former President Fidel Ramos, former Vice President Noli de Castro and evangelist Eddie Villanueva.
Ang Nars party-list Rep. Leah Paquiz noted that visitors can only be good for Arroyo.
“When you are sick and people visit you, that’s certainly a boost for your health,” Paquiz said.
