Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Siegfred Mison relieved two officers from their posts for alleged misconduct and irregular transactions. The officers were identified as Intelligence Agent Fidel Caranto Jr. of BI-General Santos City, and Immigration Officer Ralph Ian Laki of BI-NAIA. Caranto was involved in a human smuggling incident. Laki was caught facilitating the arrival and departure of a Chinese national with a fake Filipino passport. The bureau also removed Immigration Officer Carol Vinoya for allowing the departure of a passenger in exchange for P20,000. “We will make sure that these violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Mison said.
