WIMAPHIL president Merle J. San Pedro led in briefing the Secretary General on the advocacies of the association, most of which run parallel to the thematic goals of IMO. The recent works of WIMAPHIL in promoting increased participation of women in the merchant marine profession through the “She to Sea” Campaign and in enhancing domestic ferry safety under the “WIMA on Watch” program were briefly discussed.

The Secretary General gave valuable advice to the WIMAPHIL officers specially on exploring other maritime-related job opportunities for women such as ship financing or port operations duties, which are equally fulfilling and rewarding.
