UNITED NATIONS: Incoming UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday (Friday in Manila) announced his choice of Nigeria's Environment Minister Amina Mohammed to be the UN's number two official and tabbed two other women for key leadership posts.

Guterres has made achieving gender parity at the world body a priority of his tenure, which begins January 1. Women currently fill less than one in four leadership positions at the United Nations.
