DR. JOSE P. RIZAL AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
The Manila Times, through the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Awards for Excellence, seeks to recognize and honor outstanding Chinese-Filipinos who have excelled in various fields of discipline and made great contributions to the Filipino society.
It is for this reason that The Manila Times decided to institutionalize an annual system of recognition of distinguished Chinese-Filipinos. Now in its fifth year, the Tsinoy Awards continue to celebrate the best in the Tsinoy community, which has become a pillar of the society.
Awards Criteria
1. The nominee must be a Filipino citizen of Chinese descent.
2. The nominee shall have demonstrated outstanding leadership in his field of endeavor and made outstanding contribution to mainstream society.
3. The nominee must have engaged in his/her field of endeavor for a substantial part of his/her life with documented proof subject to verification.
4. The nominee must have received Chinese education, at the minimum, should be able to understand Chinese language
5. The nominee must have observed/practiced or still observes or practices some Chinese tradition.
6. These nominees shall have proven themselves worthy of honor and emulation based on the following criteria:
a. Professional excellence and achievement in their respective fields of endeavor (40%)
b. Service and commitment to the community and society (30%)
c. Leadership and pioneering zeal (30%)
Rules Governing Nomination
1. Nomination for the Awards shall be open to all individuals engaged in the following fields of endeavor: Art, Literature and Culture, Business and Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Journalism, Management and Finance, Medicine, Public Service, Science and Technology, Sports and professionals.
2. Any individual, private or public entity or organization may submit nominations.
3. Nominations should be made on the prescribed Dr. Jose P. Rizal Awards for Excellence nomination forms.
4. The nominator must cite the nominee’s background, career, range of work, scope of activity and exceptional achievements. The nominator must present how the nominee’s accomplishments have benefited the Philippine society.
5. The nominee must sign the nomination form attesting to all facts contained therein, giving consent to the verification by the Screening Committee, the subsequent publication of said facts and indicating willingness to attend the awards ceremonies if selected. Winners will be duly informed about the date of the award ceremonies.
6. The nominee must submit a birth certificate or any equivalent proof of citizenship.
7. Two (2) copies of the nominee’s picture (2” x 2”) shall accompany the accomplished nomination form.
8. Nomination forms may be obtained and submitted or mailed to The Manila Times, 2/F Sitio Grande Bldg., 409 A. Soriano Avenue, Intramuros, Manila. Forms must be received postmarked on or before April 16, 2012.
9. The Tsinoy Awards Steering Committee will review the entries to ensure that all technical requirements are complied with.
10.The Screening Committee shall conduct a preliminary selection of the nominees as finalists for consideration of the Board of Judges.
11. The Board of Judges, composed of respected citizens, shall select the winners. Their decision shall be final and unappealable.
12. All data and information submitted to the Tsinoy Awards shall be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
