Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance celebrated its second anniversary on Friday. This movement is composed of good Filipinos from different sectors of society, which aims to espouse good governance and ethical leadership in the country.
Held at the Club Filipino on San Juan City, Kaya Natin! convenor Harvey Keh, together with its founders former Naga City Mayor and the new Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, former Governors Among Ed Panlilio of Pampanga and Grace Padaca of Isabela and Champions from all over the Philippines bonded and shared their experiences of being a member of this movement.
According to former Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta of Davao City, the continuation of the advocacy of Kaya Natin! for good governance does not depend on who wins the election, but in how these people can help the country in anyway—whether they were a government official or private citizen. People can also extend their help to the movement through a private capacity.
In his speech, Sen. Teofisto Guingona 3rd said that Kaya Natin! will continue their fight for good governance and ethical leadership—to make a better life for everyone in this country.
He also said that the movement plans to grow and take a big role in the fight for good governance in the country.
As opposed to what President Benigno Aquino 3rd said in his inaugural speech, Senator Guingona said that there would still be wang wang, but it will be from Kaya Natin!—the movement will be the wang wang of good governance.
“Lets move on, lets increase our cry and lets make good governance, transparency, accountability and people’s participation a cornerstone of this administration,” Guinigona added.
Kaya Natin! also honors President Aquino as an honorary champion of Kaya Natin! Another honorary champion is former Sen. Manuel Roxas 2nd, who arrived together with the President and Budget and Management Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad.
Prominent members are also present including, the opponent of former President Gloria Arroyo on the congressional seat in Pampanga in the 2010 elections
—Adonis Simpao. Mae Paner a.k.a. Juana Change who became popular through her YouTube videos where she portrays different characters in Philippine society talking about the state of politics and government in the country also took part in the celebration.
