| Philippine-spec Audi Q3 gets 2.0- liter TDI engine, quattro, S tronic dual clutch. Mmm. |
AUDI is venturing into a new market segment as it sends its Q3 to duke it out in the country’s premium compact SUV ring.
Audi Phils. said the Q3 that is offered in the Philippines is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 177 horsepower. With a direct injection system and a start/stop function, the engine ensures the Q3 is efficient yet powerful. Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which uses a hydraulic multi-plate clutch, and a seven-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission come as standard.
According to Audi, this dual clutch transmission showcases an innovation that enhances efficiency even further. When coasting, it allows the Q3 to free-wheel when the “Efficiency” mode of the vehicle’s Drive Select is active. Drive Select means that at a push of a button, the Q3’s driver can choose between “Comfort,” “Auto,” “Dynamic” or “Efficiency” mode. All the car’s components, including cruise control and air-conditioning, are optimized for fuel consumption, Audi said.
The Q3 has ample room for five passengers and a variety of materials and colors available for a personalized style. Its occupant cell integrates a number of ultra-high-strength steels while its hood and tailgate are made of aluminum.
Audi said the Q3 has already garnered awards this year, with the vehicle having clinched the “2012 Off Road Award” of Off Road magazine, and “Best in Class” in the 2011 Euro NCAP crash tests as it received five stars – the highest possible score –for passive crash safety.
